Roseland Board of Education Update
Highlights of Thursday, July 24 BoE Meeting
Good day. Below please find a summary of the key highlights from our July Board of Education meeting:
- Mr. Mastrangelo provided an update on the Superintendent search:
- Thank you to all who provided feedback through last week’s survey – the input received was incorporated into the process as applicable
- Second interviews were conducted on Wed, July 23 with four candidates
- The Board met in closed session to discuss interview results, narrow selection, and plan next steps
- Mr. Turner reported we received our Extraordinary Aid of $30.5k, about $1.2k more than expected
- Mr. Turner has been working to close out the books for the previous school year and prepare for the upcoming annual audit
- Mr. Turner indicated initial estimates have been received for replacement of the cafeteria tables and will be discussed at the next meeting
- Dr. Cleary reported that summer school has been going well and will end next week. Camp will host an Open House next Thurs, July 31
- The Board approved:
- Annual Board and District Goals for 2014-2015 -- click here for details
- Use of Source4Teachers for daily subs, a service that helps manage the substitute teacher availability and scheduling
- Acceptance of donation from the Roseland Boosters for two pop up canopies
- Hiring Daniella Rivera as LLD teacher and Susan Tersoriero as Special Ed Resource Teacher
- Resignations of Mary Murray and Margaret Pierce who accepted full time teaching roles elsewhere
- Building use requests from HSA and Recreation for the 2014-2015 school year
- The next regular Board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 24 at 7:30pm in the Noecker Media Center.
