Below please find a summary of the key highlights from our April Board of Education meeting ( short agenda ):

• Mrs. Gross presented an  overview  of the 2015-2016 budget
• Mrs. Dacosta provided an update about the successful school play, PARCC testing, combining the school climate/safety/diversity committee, upcoming law day, student council serving lunch to cafeteria workers, and staff appreciation week
• Mr. Mastrangelo thanked Mrs. Gross and Dr. Occhino for delivering a budget that focuses on students, keeps class sizes consistent, includes new programs and investments, and continues to build a strong foundation for the future
• Mr. Mastrangelo outlined the formal process for any staff member who receives a Superintendent’s notice of non-renewal
• The Board approved:
  • The 2015-2016 budget, a 4.2% increase
  • West Essex High School senior service
  • Summer enrichment program
  • Staff re-employment list for 2015-2016
  • Alison Minion as Media Specialist substitute through the end of the school year
• During Public comment, about fifteen of the approximately thirty parents in attendance made comments about the budget and the staff renewal process
• The next regular Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 1 at 7:30pm in the Noecker Media Center
