Happy Wednesday and Happy (almost) Spring Training Opening Day! For our Down syndrome fact of the week - Children with Down syndrome may need physical, occupational, and speech therapy to help with their development. Many children with Down syndrome learn in regular classes and actively take part in play and childhood activities, both at school and in their community ( Facts About Down Syndrome ).
Department Updates - The Department of Special Services & Noecker Cares are continuing our month-long donation program to help grow awareness and acceptance for Down Syndrome and World Down Syndrome Day ( Monday, March 21st! ) collecting pairs of *NEW* socks in the main office which will be donated at the end of the month. All sizes, colors, and patterns are welcome! Thank you to those that have donated thus far, as our sock collection in the main office is growing! Looking ahead - Next Monday, March 21st , it will mark our second year of running our #LotsOfSocks event for World Down Syndrome Day. On that day, we are asking all students to come in and wear a pair of socks that are going to get noticed - they might be mismatched socks or your most colorful socks! For more information, please take a look at our flier !
Progress Reports - Progress reports have been completed by teachers and, over the next few weeks, will begin mailing. Please, keep an eye out for them and if you do not receive them, or need clarification on anything within the reports do not hesitate to reach out to your Case Managers. Thank you!
Current Sixth Grade Families - In collaboration with the West Essex Child Study Team, case managers for current sixth grade families will be in touch to continue coordinating transition planning meetings for the move up to the middle school.
