Please keep children home if they have any COVID-19 Symptoms . Our greatest desire is as much in-person/onsite instruction as possible. Until vaccines are widely available, 14-day quarantining for close contacts is still required which impacts staff availability and disrupts onsite learning. (LOTS of vaccines happening!!)

A Note from Raul Sandoval, Principal
In a continuing effort to support families, I wanted to share with you the following resource:
It is a resource guide from edutopia.org that lists various articles and video clips on many of the concepts that fall under the umbrella of social-emotional learning (and more). Several of the resources are directly linked to many of the best practices we have been using throughout the year to address SEL. I encourage you to visit the page and explore the resources.
A Note from our Read Across America Committee:
Noecker’s Masked Reader is a hit! A big shout out to Ms. Safir who was last week's Chip and Dip reader! Our next book is sooooo ”APEELING”, you are going to be asking to learn more! On this week’s episode, you will be introduced to Masked Reader, Banana Man! Banana Man is sure to pick a ripe book for you! Maybe you will learn about someone's life? Maybe you will see yourself? Either way it is sure to make you go bananas for reading!
A Note from Deanne Somers, Superintendent
Please join us at the virtual Roseland Board of Education meeting next week, Thursday, March 18th . Presentations include the Reopening Plan (with survey results) and the Preliminary 2021-2022 District Budget. Directions for the meeting will be posted on the district website and both agendas AND previous meeting minutes and presentations can be found HERE . Agendas are posted the day before meetings!
TRAVEL Our Spring Break this year begins Friday, April 2nd with our return to school on Monday, April 12th. Our DOH recommendation continues to be: a 14-day quarantine for travel out of the immediate area (New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Delaware). *AT THIS TIME* Quarantine after travel (regardless of vaccines or positive status) is still anticipated. Please see the LCN COVID-19 Dashboard and FAQ for additional information.
A Note from Rich Celebre, Supervisor of Special Services
We are thrilled to have Ms. Monique Dujue Wilson, from SPAN , presenting an Overview of Rights - Parent Involvement in Special Education at our upcoming SEPAC meeting. The is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, March 11th from 7-9 PM. Please, RSVP for the meeting for Zoom login information, using the attached flyer. From Ms. Wilson on what to expect from her presentation: “Parents learn to identify their dreams and goals for their children and their rights and responsibilities as parents of children with special needs under the Individuals with Disabilities EducationAct (IDEA). Families will leave with the knowledge and strategies necessary to be equal partners in the special education process.”
Also upcoming , as the second trimester comes to a close on March 16th, IEP based progress reports will also be completed by teachers and service providers. As soon as progress reports are completed, they will be printed and sent out in the mail for your review as they were in the fall.

Important Notes From the School Nurse
It is IMPERATIVE that any student who has been
exposed to a positive person,
traveled outside of the tri-state area,
is in a household with a symptomatic person, OR
has any COVID symptoms (see below), not attend school.
Quarantine timelines vary depending upon exposure, test results, and travel, so please communicate promptly and contact Nurse Noronha for assistance.
*** Please keep your child home, including siblings, if he/she has any COVID-19-like symptoms or has been exposed. If someone in the house is being tested, household members should likewise remain home until the test results come back and next steps can be determined. Thank you! ***
Please continue to monitor the guidelines found in the Health and Safety Commitment and notify Nurse Noronha if any member of your family has been exposed to anyone who has tested positive or is awaiting a test result of a symptomatic close contact. Any child with COVID symptoms will require a negative test result or the completion of isolation prior to returning to Noecker School ( January 2021 NJDOH/AAP Guidance ). |
