Dear Noecker Families: please please keep children home if they have any COVID-19 Symptoms . Our greatest desire is as much in-person/onsite instruction as possible. Until vaccines are widely available, 14-day quarantining for close contacts is required which impacts staff availability. I know we are all weary, but the virus is not. Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Please see information regarding vaccines below . |
February 24, 2021
A Note from Raul Sandoval, Principal
As February comes to a close we look forward to better weather. We also look forward to Read Across America Week ! According to the National Education Association “It is the nation’s largest celebration of reading. This year-round program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources that are about everyone, for everyone.” At Noecker your child will be engaged in various activities throughout the week, including the following themed days:
Monday 3/1 - Read a silly story and wear a silly outfit
Tuesday 3/2 - Read a book about a famous American and dress up like them
Wednesday 3/3 - Read about an influential athlete and wear something to represent your favorite sports team
Thursday 3/4 - Read a book about a different culture - Wear something to represent your family’s culture or hometown
Friday 3/5 - Read your favorite book and wear your favorite color
Teachers will also be discussing the idea that reading is a passport to learning about ourselves and others.” The link will take you to a virtual library that contains several diverse titles. I encourage you to explore and discuss, not only the selections, but the overall importance of reading.
The New Jersey Consortium for Gifted and Talented Programs held a poster contest where students had to create a stamp that represented 2020. Out of nearly 100 entries, two Noecker students were recognized for their entries. Kevin Zhao, grade 6, received third place and Roman Trillo, grade 5, received honorable mention. Congratulations to the Zhao and Trillo families!
A Note from Deanne Somers, Superintendent

VACCINES - Critical Information - once a teacher has received the second vaccine (Moderna) AND 14 days have passed, the teacher no longer has to quarantine if exposed to a positive individual. THIS is why vaccines for teachers and school employees are so important! If you feel teachers should be a priority for the vaccine, please consider sending Governor Murphy a letter stating so. For your convenience, please see the directions to contact Governor Murphy AND a draft letter HERE . Thank you for your support!
TRAVEL - Please be advised that any travel beyond the immediate region (New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Delaware) still requires a 14-day quarantine upon return. You may refer to the *updated* LCN COVID-19 Dashboard and FAQ for additional information . At this time, the 14-day quarantine is still required regardless of vaccine status or previous positive test results.
It is IMPERATIVE that any student who has been
exposed to a positive person,
traveled outside of the tri-state area,
is in a household with a symptomatic person, OR
has any COVID symptoms (see below), not attend school.
Quarantine timelines vary depending upon exposure, test results, and travel, so please communicate promptly and contact Nurse Noronha for assistance.
