A Note from Raul Sandoval, Principal
I hope you had the opportunity to read Dr. Brockel’s letter to the community regarding guidelines for traveling and quarantining. If you have not done so already, please check your email.
For the last two years, students have stayed in their homerooms for all of their academic instruction, including most special area classes. This, of course, was due to our health and safety guidelines. As was announced at our last board meeting, on March 1st we will begin “switching classes.” Your child will now move with their homeroom for all specials. In addition, fifth and sixth grade students will switch from room to room for their core academic classes. This is an important step towards normalcy, but also preparation for middle school life. I am encouraged by all of the recent changes and I look forward to rediscovering Noecker as we keep making progress!
Read Across America
For Read Across America (RAA), students will be engaged in various classroom and schoolwide activities next week. As part of this celebration the RAA Committee has planned a spirit week for Noecker. We are looking for 100 percent participation from all students to celebrate the importance of reading. Please click here to view the schedule for the week .
A Note from Dr. Richard Celebre, Director of Special Services
Register here! Upcoming P/AC Workshop - Our next parent workshop is on the calendar for Monday, March 7th with a topic of Accommodations and Modifications - What are available to your children in school and at home? Don’t forget to complete the following pre-workshop survey as your questions will be used to guide the discussion and teacher presentations. We look forward to another great turnout!
Looking Ahead to March - March 21st will mark our second year of running our #LotsOfSocks event for World Down Syndrome Day to help grow awareness and acceptance for Down Syndrome . On that day, we are asking all students to come in and wear a pair of socks that are going to get noticed - they might be mismatched socks or your most colorful socks! Also, all March long, we will be running a donation program with the Noecker Cares Team . We will be collecting pairs of *NEW* socks in the main office which will be donated at the end of the month. All sizes, colors, and patterns are welcome! For more information, please take a look at our flier !
Progress Reports - The second set of progress reports for the year will be completed and mailed out in line with the end of the second trimester.
Current Sixth Grade Families - In collaboration with the West Essex Child Study Team, case managers for current sixth grade families will be in touch to begin coordinating transition planning meetings for the move up to the middle school.
