Roseland Board of Education Update
Highlights of Thursday, November 20 Meeting
Good day. Below please find a summary of the key highlights from our November Board of Education meeting:
- Mrs. Gross shared an overview of 2014 NJASK results, PARCC training update, and proposal to hire literary consultant Jennifer Serravallo ( Superintendent’s Report – November 20, 2014 )
- John Mooney of Nisivoccia, LLP provided the Board with findings from our 2014 audit, and recommended the Board consider adding to the surplus if possible.
- Mrs. DaCosta provided an overview of the Education Week, Veterans day celebration, and upcoming visit by Jets #10 Tommy Bohanon, a Roseland resident.
- Dr. Occhino reviewed renewals of ACES cooperative pricing for our energy costs, etc
- Mr. Mastrangelo noted the new signs in place and new lights as part of security updates.
- Mr. Farina provided a summary of the Buildings & Grounds meeting with a vendor regarding updates to the school camera system.
- The Board approved:
- Award contract to Source4Teachers to provide substitute teachers
- Jennifer Serravallo as Literacy Consultant for 2014-2015 school year
- Donation from HSA for more than $18k to be used for multiple areas such as cultural arts, field trips, art, music, technology and more
- Superintendent merit goals for 2014-2015
- Resignation of Margaret O’Reilly-Hughs effective Dec 23, 2014
- Unpaid medical leave for Patricia Baker through Dec 3, 2014
- Child care leave for Cara Cunha through Sept 2016
- The next Board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 7:30pm in the Noecker Media Center
